Rangitahi House

Currently under construction in the beautiful Rangitahi Peninsula subdivision in Raglan, this home has been designed with entertaining, flexibility and relaxed coastal living at its heart.

The layout creates a considered balance between shared and private spaces, allowing guests to stay for a weekend or for an extended period while still enjoying a sense of independence. The main living areas provide the owner with their own place to relax, unwind and take in views across Raglan’s inner waterways, while generous outdoor living areas create a natural extension of the home for entertaining.

Architecturally, the home brings together a restrained coastal material palette with moments of warmth and texture. Rustic brick cladding grounds the building, contrasting with crisp vertical cladding and natural timber detailing. A bespoke timber screen marks the entrance and introduces a crafted element to the façade, providing both privacy and visual interest.

Subtle curves have been incorporated throughout the architecture, softening the home’s strong contemporary forms. Curved roof and wall transitions create a more fluid silhouette and add another layer of detail to the otherwise clean, linear composition.

To the rear, an expansive deck connects the living spaces with the landscape, while an elevated retreat and balcony capture the outlook beyond. The external stair provides a strong architectural feature in its own right, connecting the two outdoor levels and reinforcing the home’s focus on easy, informal entertaining.

The result is a contemporary Raglan home that feels relaxed rather than overly formal – layered with rustic textures, bespoke detailing and subtle curves, and designed around the way its occupants and their guests will actually live.
