Abodo Adobe
This single-story residential abode is situated in Te Puna on the outskirts of Tauranga on a 3,000 m2 predominately flat site nestled on a subdivided avocado orchard. The dwelling features a H-shape form clad entirely in Abodo Vulcan that also features prominently internally. One part of the brief for this house was to create an ‘outdoor’ entertainment room within the same pitched ceiling with the ability to close it off from the rest of the house when kids are sleeping but also open it all up and flow as seamlessly as possible to act as the dining room. The dual chimneys each end of the living wing contrast the vertical Abodo with White Washed Horizontal Abodo Vulcan inside and out.
The expansive entry way that allows you to look straight through to the rural backdrop as you enter splits off to the bedroom wing to the left that feature four bedrooms and office and to the right dual living that feature high quality fixtures, high ceilings and elegant lighting. The bathrooms, laundry & kitchen are expertly finished and speaks luxury regardless of the space you find yourself in. On the exterior the driveway weaves its way through the remaining avocados, past an oversized utility shed that can store a boat and campervan.
The Abodo Vuclan cladding is seamlessly integrated with the garage door flush mounted and barely visible from a distance. The vertical Abodo Vulcan continues inside as a highlight to the master bedroom where is is used as a feature wall that flows along the groove to the raking ceiling where the scissor trusses purposely sit on the bed head wall creating a sharp acute angle. Included in the feature wall is LED lit recessed shelving.
The “separate” dining is a real feature in this house utilising external joinery to close off when entertaining for noise control with matching raking window over extending the light source to the room. This compliments the seperate bedroom wing on the other side of the central entry. Barn doors feature closing off the media room but also dual barn doors utilising the same rail that work in tandem to close off the bathroom and laundry.
